The DfES National Framework for Sustainable Schools identifies eight doorways through which school may choose to initiate or extend their sustainable school activity.

Hiram Bingham is an innovating school, which provides quality education within a British system and through an international, bilingual curriculum based on inquiry and the use of technology.
Hiram Bingham School through the Green committee and the Green School Policy agree to provide education in order to develop recaring individuals, to grow in harmony with their environment. Students must be aware of the impact of their actions on the planet and be capable of caring about the environment in which they live now; and be ready to provide solutions to the environmental challenges of the future.
• Hiram Bingham is committed to promoting and practising Education for Sustainable Development.
• Hiram Bingham promotes education for sustainable development throughout its curriculum both inside and outside the classroom.
• The school will seek to learn from and to educate the students, visiting staff, partnership organisations and the local community in environmental issues.
• Hiram Bingham will co-operate as fully as possible and maintain open relations with all authorities with regards to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
• Hiram Bingham will review periodically the environmental impact of its services, products, policies and operations, with a view to reducing and controlling environmental impacts where practical. The Green Committee will address the issues of energy, raw materials, water, waste and transport.
• Hiram Bingham seeks to promote a healthy lifestyle throughout the school, therefore improving the lives of the people in our community.
• Hiram Bingham will continually strive for excellence in its overall environmental performance and seek to lead the way in innovative projects in the field of ESD.
• The Green Committee will seek to meet ten times a year and annually review the existing action plan and help create new policies. The committee has representation from the school community.
• Hiram Bingham will seek, as far as it is practicable, to work with its suppliers and contractors to contribute to meeting the environmental aims of the school.
• Hiram Bingham is working towards and maintaining the LAHC Green School Gold Award standards.
